Achieving meaningful business goals requires more than ambition—it demands learning, planning, the right tools, focused training, and strong teamwork.
I was reminded of this when, at 60 years old, I successfully cycled to the top of Jabal Hafeet in Al Ain—1,200 meters above sea level, after preparing in the mountains of New Zealand under the guidance of a specialist trainer. The journey was challenging, but it reinforced a powerful lesson: preparation determines performance.
Every stage of training was intentional. Learning the terrain, planning each milestone, using the right equipment, and committing to disciplined training mirrored the way successful organizations operate. Progress was measurable, setbacks were managed, and confidence grew with consistency.
Although the climb was personal, the achievement was collective. Coaches, supporters, and structured guidance played a critical role—just as strong teams do in business. No sustainable success is achieved alone.
Whether in sport or in the boardroom, the formula remains the same: invest in learning, plan with purpose, equip your people, train for excellence, and build strong teams.
When you do, even the steepest challenges become achievable—and the summit becomes just the beginning.
